Katharina Andres, oboe


Katharina Andres was born in 1981 in Saarbrücken, Germany.

She discovered the world of early music at a very early age at the music school of her home town, where whe studied XVIth and XVIIth century music and learned to play shawn, crumhorn, recorder, dulcian with Bernhard Stilz.

At the age of 12 she had her first baroque oboe lessons with Elsa Frank.

Her studies in the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, with Conrad Steinmann and Katharina Arfken end with 2 dimplomas : the first in  2005, is dedicated to baroque period (recorder and baroque oboe) ; the second, in 2006 rewarded her specialisation in Renaissance instruments.

She now lives in Basel and works regularly with French, German and Swiss orchestras.

She took part in concerts and recordings with ensembles such as Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Bach-Collegium Japan, Balthasar-Neumann-Ensemble, Concerto Köln, Doulce Mémoire, Freiburger Barockorchester, Kammerorchester Basel, La Fenice, La Petite Bande, Le Concert Spirituel, Le Poême Harmonique and Les Muffatti.
